Jurisphere was founded in 2024 by brothers Manas Khandelwal and Varun Khandelwal, along with Sumit Ghosh, a computer science graduate from IIT Delhi. Manas brought a transactional law background from AZB & Partners, one of India's most reputed law firms, where he saw first-hand how much high-volume legal work runs on repetitive, manpower-heavy processes. Sumit brought the technical depth to build a solution; the brothers brought the legal domain context and network. Together, they set out to build something bigger than a productivity tool: an outcome-based legal AI platform, where success is measured not by how many contracts get drafted, but by whether the client actually gets the legal outcome they needed, faster and more reliably.

From workspace to ecosystem

In the roughly year-and-a-half since its founding, Jurisphere has built an AI-powered legal workspace now used by more than 500 teams across law firms, enterprises, and public institutions in India, covering research, contract drafting, document review, and team collaboration. The company is now extending that into a marketplace connecting clients directly with a structured network of legal professionals operating inside the same shared AI environment — infrastructure and intelligence layered on top of legal work still delivered by independent firms and professionals. As co-founder Varun Khandelwal put it, "the next phase of legal AI is not just about productivity gains, but about enabling execution," with AI's role being to ensure "every lawyer on the network operates with compounding intelligence."

A head start via Embark

That vision recently drew $2.2 million in seed funding led by InfoEdge Ventures, with Flourish Ventures, Antler, and 8i Ventures also participating — capital the company plans to use to expand internationally and build what it calls the world's largest network of AI-native legal professionals.

You're suddenly in rooms with people who've already done this — who know exactly where founders trip up trying to crack the US market, and what actually gets a foot in the door versus what just burns time. That's not something you can replicate by reading about it or figuring it out on your own from India. It's the kind of head start that would normally take months to build."

With funding secured, 500+ teams already on the platform, and a clear thesis that legal AI's real value lies in outcomes rather than tools, Jurisphere is now betting it can carry that model well beyond India's borders.
