What to expect when joining Antler Indonesia

We typically work with (i) highly-motivated individuals who want to launch a startup idea and (ii) exceptional pre-existing teams who want to accelerate their growth with Antler's support. By joining Antler, we help entrepreneurs build a strong team, validate an idea, build their business model, and pitch for an investment.

Phase 1 (formation and validation)

Phase 1 runs for 10 weeks and is focused on forming a team, identifying good problems, validating ideas, and developing the business model. During this phase, you will get access to Antler's resources and global ecosystem support.

Pitch to Investment Committee

Show time! At the end of Phase 1 or week 10, you will pitch your startup idea to Antler's Investment Committee. Successful teams will secure a USD125,000 investment from Antler and proceed to phase 2 to continue building the company.

Phase 2 (company building)

Phase 2 runs for 12 weeks where you will receive personalized coaching from Antler partners and global network of advisors to help you execute your idea, build product, onboard customers, and hire your core team. It culminates with Antler Demo Day at the end of phase 2, where you will get the opportunity to pitch to local and international investors for your next fundraising.

We help you throughout your company's life cycle from follow-up investments (through Series C and beyond) to tier-one VC access to our genuine global network that is always here to support you.

Jussi Salovaara
Co-founder and Managing Partner

As co-founder and Managing Partner Asia for Antler, Jussi works with a global team dedicated to developing the next generation of world-changing companies and creating a global pipeline for top talents to pursue a career in entrepreneurship and innovation. Before joining the startup ecosystem, Jussi headed the Global Services Commercial Management sector of Nokia. He works closely with the founders to coach them and helps connect them with the right advisors to build their businesses.

Markus Bruderer
Partner

Markus has worked with technology ventures for 8 years. Prior to Antler, Markus was Corporate Development Manager at Global Fashion Group (GFG) where he set up the global Process Improvement and Path to Profitability functions. Markus also designed and implemented turnaround strategies in multiple locations and led the transaction of Zalora Philippines (a GFG subsidiary), selling a 49% stake to Ayala Group. Before joining GFG, Markus was Corporate Development Manager at Zalora Philippines and Indonesia where he led projects in Growth, Profitability, Business Intelligence and Finance.

Dama is an Associate at Antler Indonesia and before joining Antler, he was program officer for #1000StartupDigital by Ministry of Communications & Informatics. At #1000StartupDigital, his main focus is to create a movement across 20 cities in Indonesia to enable the startup ecosystem in Indonesia through various mentoring programmes. Where the goals is to develop digital talent, creating a digital solution and creating an inclusive startup ecosystem. Before Kominfo, he was part of widelanes a local concert promoter as Head of talent relation.

Associate

Tama is an Associate at Antler Indonesia and before joining us, Tama was Investment Analyst of MDI Ventures, Corporate Venture capital backed by Telkom Indonesia. At MDI Ventures, his main focus was exploring early-stage investment from sourcing, due diligence, and executing investment. Aside from that, he also contributed to several accelerator under MDI Ventures management : Indigo Program and Hub.Id Program as a Program Analyst. During his career at MDI Ventures. Tama helped to close several notable investments like Riliv (co-invest with east-ventures) and Verihubs (YCombinator 2021).

Felix Frenzel
Investment Associate

Felix works on portfolio management and investment topics for Antler's Southeast Asia portfolio. He provides coaching and fundraising support, manages select external investments, helps build relationships with investment firms, and enables performance reporting. Felix previously worked as a consultant at Bain & Company, advising global clients across sectors on strategic topics. He holds an MBA from INSEAD and an MSc in International Finance from HEC Paris.

Ryan Thoo
VP of Marketing, SEA

Ryan Thoo is the marketing lead for Southeast Asia. He manages Antler's brand and marketing performance in the region as well as coach founders in early-stage growth and GTM. Former Marketing Director and Web3 Strategy Lead at PropertyGuru Group, where he drove high-growth demand generation and value creation for the organisation and took them from Series B to market leadership and IPO. During that journey, Ryan contributed towards scaling up their Marketplaces business across SEA, starting up a new FinTech unit, and driving Web3 innovation for PropTech.

Keith Lim
Director

Keith heads the Finance function in Antler Southeast Asia and is in charge of the financial and tax reporting and compliance of the SEA fund and the local Antler entity. He has more than 20 years of working experience in both the public and private sectors covering industries from real estate, sports, defence and research. Prior to joining Antler, he spent 13 years with a multi-national real estate company which specializes in fund and asset management, real estate development and resort operations.

Audrey Gunawan
Finance Associate

Audrey supports the financial operations of South East Asia as a financial Associate. She has an understanding of financial systems that stem further than the basics, previously working first hand on finances in Singapore’s hospitality industry. Audrey is also currently pursuing her ACCA studies to gain her Chartered Certified Accountant qualification. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and Financial Management.

Director

Rufus joined Antler's SEA team in 2018, where he helps build, launch and invest in new startups out of Singapore. Previously, he was an innovation manager at Metro Group’s digital strategy & CVC arm. At Metro, he led various projects across the European retail and hospitality startup ecosystem. He holds an MSc degree in business management from the National University of Singapore where he graduated with the highest distinction.

What is the program like?

The program is divided into two phases. Phase 1 is dedicated to finding a co-founder, validating ideas, and developing your business. Phase 2 is an acceleration track where you will use Antler funding to execute your idea, onboard customers, and gain traction to eventually raise your seed round. Throughout the program we offer office space, a personal mentor, presentations with external speakers, and connections to our global mentor network.

What will I gain from the program?

You will have access to masterclasses and resources that will teach you all you need to know to build your startup. The most valuable support you'll receive is from our network of advisors, venture partners, industry experts, our global community of founders, and the Antler team.

Are we allowed to join part-time and how will the program be conducted?

During this 6-month program period, we require founders to join the program full-time as we will conduct the masterclass trainings, coaching sessions, mentoring and networking sessions hybrid (offline in the office and online sessions)

What is the typical background of other founders in the cohort?

We welcome the best aspiring entrepreneurs from different professional and geographical backgrounds. We have a diverse mix of founders including technical professionals and product builders, senior executives excelling in business development and strategy creation, and domain experts and PhDs specialized in niche fields such as data science and blockchain.

How does Antler facilitate the search for co-founders in phase 1?

In the phase 1 of the program, you will have the opportunity to meet 50+ extremely talented individuals from both tech and business backgrounds, all passionate about building a successful startup. You will have the opportunity to ideate and test your skill sets and working styles through the program—for example, in hackathons. Although we emphasize complementary skillsets and guide you in your search for the perfect co-founder, Antler won’t impose co-founding teams.

Do I have to team up with the co-founder(s) during the program?

Yes, every company we fund needs to have at least two co-founders. In the unlikely case where you don't find the ideal partner in the cohort, we encourage our founders to find a co-founder outside of Antler. It is very unlikely a solo founder can proceed to phase 2.

Which industry or sector does Antler focus on?

We are vertical agnostic and look to invest in fast-growing companies with a strong regional or global potential. We welcome a wide range of companies across industries. Most companies have a tech component—e.g., using machine learning, blockchain, or IoT technology—in industries such as healthcare, fintech, property tech, and more.

What happens after the program? Do participants receive any support?

Yes. Antler continues to support companies after the program. We have an interest in creating successful companies with our innovators. We’ll continue to support companies with our advisory network, investor contacts, and company partnerships. In addition, program alumni have the opportunity to use tech, admin, and recruiting resources offered by Antler at cost.

If I have an idea and a team, am I still able to join the program?

Yes, you can still join us even if you already have a team. You will have to apply individually and mention your team in the application. However, we encourage all founders to keep an open mind during the program and consider the opportunity to work with other innovators on other great ideas.

What does Antler’s investment in founders look like?

If your team secures funding for the second part of the program, you receive an investment into your company from Antler of USD 125,000 for a 10% equity stake in the company. USD 35,000 of that investment will be used to pay for our program fees. Startups that do not get investment from Antler are not required to pay program fees. This includes access to our global network of entrepreneurs, investors, industry experts, venture partners, and advisors, as well as coaching by the Antler team. We also provide partner benefits to our portfolio companies and discounts/credits for services offered by companies such as Google, Amazon, Paypal, and more.

Do you sponsor visas?

Unfortunately, we are not able to sponsor visa applications.

We have already raised funding, can we still apply?

Yes, you can still apply. Most companies are founded during the program, but great founders with an existing business in the early stages can still apply to join Antler in Indonesia.
