Wrtn Technologies Secures 83 Billion KRW in Additional Investment, Completing Series B Round at 108 Billion KRW
Seoul-3/31/2025-—Wrtn Technologies, an AI service platform company led by CEO Se-young Lee, announced on the 31st that it has successfully secured an additional 83 billion KRW in investment, completing its Series B round at a total of 108 billion KRW. With this, Wrtn's cumulative investment has reached approximately 130 billion KRW. This large-scale investment comes just nine months after raising 25 billion KRW in its pre-Series B round last June. Wrtn is the first domestic B2C service AI startup to surpass 100 billion KRW in cumulative investment, excluding companies focused on LLMs and semiconductors.
Goodwater Capital joined as the lead investor in this additional funding round, alongside existing investors including BRV Capital Management, Capstone Partners, Woori Venture Partners, Sui Generis Partners, Antler Global, and Z Venture Capital (ZVC). Goodwater Capital, a global investment firm based in Silicon Valley, has invested in innovative consumer technology companies across more than 12 countries worldwide. In South Korea, they were early investors in major companies like Coupang, Kakao, and Toss, and also led investment in Karrot Market. Goodwater Capital's investment strategy and portfolio are recognized for their significant impact on identifying and growing promising startups centered on consumer technology advancement.
Jin-seok Oh, partner at Goodwater Capital who led the investment in Wrtn, explained, "As the AI market environment is rapidly changing, we will soon enter an era of AI services targeting diverse customer segments. Wrtn is an innovative company that is leading these AI market trends well and showing growth momentum and potential to leap forward as a powerful platform."
In October last year, Wrtn surpassed 5 million monthly active users just 1 year and 10 months after launching its service, reaching this milestone faster than Toss (approximately 3 years and 3 months) and Karrot (approximately 2 years). In terms of revenue, Wrtn achieved monthly revenue of 1 billion KRW in November last year, primarily through its character chat service, followed by 2 billion KRW in December, with steady growth continuing.
Additionally, Wrtn will officially launch its character chat service as a separate web/app service called "Crack" on the 3rd of next month. The main Wrtn service, which includes AI search, productivity tools, and "My AI" features, will also undergo a major comprehensive update next month.
Regarding these developments, Wrtn will hold a press conference for domestic and international media at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seoul on the 8th of next month to provide detailed explanations about the launch of "Wrtn 3.0" and its future vision following this investment. The Four Seasons Hotel was selected as the venue for this press conference as it is the historic location where the Go match between AI AlphaGo and Lee Sedol took place in 2016.
Meanwhile, Wrtn CEO Se-young Lee stated, "Since its founding, Wrtn has aimed to create everyday AI services that breathe with the public, rather than AI confined to laboratories. We will continue to advance AI services that are easier and more convenient for the public to use, growing as a central platform representing the AI era."
