Developing an AI-powered insect incubator system for horticulture farms, Omma is automating the rearing of beneficial insects to reduce pesticide use in large-scale greenhouses.
Omma is developing AI-powered technology which enables growers to rear beneficial insects on farms for natural pest management. Beneficial insects are becoming increasingly adopted in the wake of 50% of pesticides being phased out in EU & UK. However, high costs and supply chain issues have hindered beneficial insects from becoming a complete solution. Our innovation reduces the labour and expertise required to produce insects, allowing growers to cheaply produce their own supply, for continuous and preventative treatment. The market is dominated by large companies (Koppert, Biobest) who sell insects to growers, whilst only a handful of large farming cooperatives have the excess labour and resources to produce their own insects.
We currently have 2 pilot trials with our rearing system underway on UK farms that operate in over 150 countries abroad.
