The defining companies of tomorrow: Antler Sydney announces its latest investments

Since launching in Sydney in March last year, Antler has made its mark on the Australian tech startup scene.

In 16 months, the local arm of the global early stage VC firm has closed its first AU$46 million fund, invested in almost 40 companies, and is gearing up to hold its third Demo Day to showcase its recent round of pre-seed investments.

This week, the firm announced its latest round of investments in companies spanning SaaS, FinTech, HealthTech, Future of Work, EduTech, PropTech and more.

“This recent investment round, and our local growth as a firm over the last year and a half, is proof that what we are doing at Antler is creating an unprecedented impact on the Australian economy,” says Bede Moore.

“This scale of company generation paired with Antler extensive support and due diligence is creating stronger global businesses here in Australia than has ever existed below. We’re proud to be supporting the Australian economy in a time of extended uncertainty in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.”

Virtual Demo Day, November 19

On November 19, Antler Sydney will reveal these companies at its upcoming Demo Day which investors and business leaders can register for and watch via demoday.antler.co/sydney.

To date, more than 80% of Antler Australia’s portfolio companies have gone on to raise third party capital within six months of Antler’s pre-seed funding, despite the headwinds generated by Covid-19.

In the period since June 2019, Antler Sydney has also attracted nearly 5,000 applications and worked directly with more than 250 entrepreneurs. It is currently taking applications for its next intake in January, in which people can apply via antler.co/apply.

Antler Sydney has also recently launched initiatives to complement efforts to support early-stage founder success and generate new businesses in Australia, with Antler Launch Academy; a free online course which opens up Antler’s company building playbook to those wanting to learn a structured approach to developing an idea and launching a startup, and the Reindeer Network; a community to support and empower women to develop entrepreneurial skills and strategies.

Antler has a presence in 14 locations across 6 continents and has invested in more than 160 companies globally, giving the firm unrivalled reach and access into global markets.

Over the next five years, Antler aims to support over 10,000 entrepreneurs, build and invest in 1,000 companies that better the world and create over 100,000 new jobs across the world.

Having now invested in hundreds of companies, worked with thousands of entrepreneurs, and developed an extensive due diligence process consisting on average of 400 hours spent with each founder prior to investment, Antler has acquired the world’s largest dataset on early-stage startup success. This helps the VC to better support founders and maximise their chances of success.
