At Antler (www.antler.co), we find, enable and invest in the next generation of founders who address the world’s greatest opportunities and challenges. Antler is one of the world’s fastest growing venture funds, with a portfolio of ~450+ startups across 6 continents and half a billion dollars AUM across all funds.

Antler India aims to be the global pre-seed institutional partner for our founders. By combining the power of a vast global network, institutional resources, significant follow-on funding and extensive hands-on support in venture building from Day 0, Antler India will solve for a missing piece in India’s growing startup ecosystem. 

We officially began operations with the announcement of the first Antler India Founders Program in Jan 2021, with plans to deploy up to $150 million in the next 2-3 years. Our team consists of former founders and investors across a wide variety of sectors. We have collectively managed over 1,500 people on our teams, raised $100M+ in capital and gone through the good, bad and the ugly of entrepreneurship. 

Antler India has a portfolio of 22 companies across a wide range of sectors including Web3, SAAS, Fintech, D2C and Consumer Tech, and aims to have a portfolio of close to 100 companies over the next 24 - 36 months.

Context for the Role 

  We are now recruiting for one of the most critical roles in our core team - an experienced professional to head all Portfolio activities for Antler India. This person will build the best portfolio platform globally to help all the Antler India portfolio companies succeed

  Early stage VC as an industry is undergoing a seismic shift globally and this person will build brand Antler and our portfolio companies to be at the forefront of this shift. This is a senior role that comes with a high level of responsibility and autonomy. The role will report directly to, and work very closely with the Partners at Antler India. 

  This role is ideal for any strong operator from the startup world who wants to build a career in the VC industry or wants to spend the next 3-5 years working with founders across a variety of sectors before becoming a strong founder again.   

Roles & Responsibilities 

  • Problem Solving for Portfolio: Work with the portfolio founders across a variety of aspects to help them solve specific problems across go-to-market, hiring, product and engineering; ability to understand context across multiple sectors and founder backgrounds is critical   
  • Portfolio Review: Review the key metrics of the startups every fortnight / month, and have actionable insights for the Partners + Portfolio companies from these reviews
  • Fundraising: Help founders raise money from early stage VCs in their seed and Series A rounds; help them prepare the pitch + have a clear strategy to help them at scale; interact with the global Antler continuity funding for later stage funding for these startups
  • Hiring: Helping founders hire for the top 2-3 profiles for their organizations; working with team members and other agencies to drive outcomes for Portfolio founders     
  • Working with the global Antler ecosystem: Partnering with the global Antler organization to get the best of support for the portfolio across different geographies and other Antler funded founders     
  • Community building and networking: Being a great brand ambassador for Antler across different stakeholders in the ecosystem including founders, VCs, startups, agencies corporates, media and academic institutions; build deep long-term relationships with these stakeholders to be able to help portfolio founders as a platform
  • Mentoring and supporting team members: In the near future, the Portfolio team will have 3-5 members reporting to this role, working with founders to help them across a wide variety of problem statements across the early stage. This person will build and groom the team, and expand it further over time..

This role is based in Bangalore, India with travel to other major cities as necessary. 

Skill-sets and Competencies

  • 7-10 years experience spanning operating roles in startups, founder experience and/or venture capital experience. 
  • Bonus points for: Founder experience of having built a startup from scratch and having raised 1-2 rounds of venture capital, angel investing experience or portfolio advisory roles for a variety of companies at very early stages
  • Outstanding operator experience in any of the functions across: product / marketing / technology / category / operations / etc. ideally in early / mid stage startups 
  • Strong foundational problem solving skills to help founders on a variety of aspects by going wide as well as deep at the same time. Networking skills to build a strong network with potential recruits, VCs, advisors, partners etc. that will help the portfolio companies   
  • The ideal candidate will also have exceptional fundraising and storytelling skills (past experience with VC conversations, pitch decks, etc.)  
  • People management skills having recruited, coached and groomed strong teams
  • Product / platform skills to scale up all of the portfolio support across 80+ companies in the next 2 years     
  • Working experience across B2C and B2B / SaaS will also be a certain plus
